Your Christ on the cross on a custom-made base in steel or brass

Discover La Bulle's solutions for the presentation and plinth of a Christ on the cross

You have a Christ on the cross, crucifix type, and you would like to present it in a way that reflects its value.

At La Bulle Paris, we have developed a network of experienced plinth specialists as well as a workshop on the first floor of our boutique to offer you a wide range of presentation solutions tailored to the uniqueness of your objects.
Our area of expertise in plinths is broad, as we are able to offer you both plate displays and mask displays.
Our range of standard displays is available in our online store. We also offer a complete custom plinth creation service. Thanks to this custom plinth creation service, we can now offer you so many presentation possibilities for your Christ on the Cross.

Those of you who own this type of object know how old and fragile they can be. Furthermore, each Christ has its own unique characteristics. For example, some have parallel legs, while others have crossed feet. Either position requires the creation of a different custom base.
The plinth maker's job is to adapt the plinth to the morphology of Christ's body. This is no easy task. Every detail is important. This is what we call a morphological plinth.

Here is a video showing you the creation of two custom bases for two different clients.
The two sculptures are very different, and so is their base. A custom base is essential for this type of object to perfectly meet your presentation needs.

Two Christs on the cross, two different custom-made bases.

Here is a detailed presentation of the two custom-made bases.
In these two examples, we clearly find the position of the two Christs with open arms, but we also notice that the bronze Christ has legs positioned in parallel while the golden Christ has his feet positioned one on top of the other.
These few differences have a great influence on the final custom base.

For the custom-made bronze base, it was easy to "hide" the support bar of the base behind Christ's back. This solution was not possible for the custom-made base of the gilded Christ, because the overall composition was much more openwork. The solution found was to fit Christ's body as closely as possible by running the support bar along his entire body, following the contours.
For these two Christs on the cross, the solutions found were radically different.
Furthermore, we worked with steel and brass to create these custom-made bases.
The materials and patina colors were chosen by our customers.

A plexiglass base for a modern and discreet custom-made plinth.

For this Christ on the cross, the customer's choice is radically different.
We already note that Christ's feet are parallel.
The client chose a plexiglass base with a gold-plated brass rear support rod for his custom-made base.
On this rod, we fixed two axes to hold the arms.

When creating a custom base, it is essential to discuss with the client the crucial question of the possibility of drilling the work.
Drilling a hole to hold the artwork in place is never detrimental to the overall effect. Rest assured, if the artwork cannot be drilled, there are always alternative solutions.
For this example, it was not possible to drill, we reused the holes already present in the hands.

Custom-made steel bases for Christ on the cross: personalize your base

Custom-made steel bases.
The advantage of this type of achievement is that you can
choose the color of the patina yourself.

Another example of a custom-made steel base with a choice of personalized patina.
For this Christ on the cross we opted to hold the work under the arms.
In fact, the arms were too thin to accommodate a support frame.

A pop Christ on its custom-made base

Like this Christ, do not hesitate to let us know your wishes regarding custom plinths.
In fact, in this example our customer arrived at the store with a crucifix without a cross, which he himself described as uninteresting.
This client wanted to create something pop.
With it we painted Christ in Klein blue and inserted a brass rod into existing holes, which was then inserted into a wooden base. The wooden base was then repainted in gold.

Let yourself be inspired by these few achievements.
And why not imagine your own custom base.
We are at your disposal at 23 bis rue Paul Bert in Saint Ouen in our workshop boutique.
We will discuss your suggestions together and will be happy to assist you in developing your custom base.
