Enhance your fans with our custom
displays
or bases
In this article, we won't explain how to make a fan, but rather how to display it.
Because while there are several materials for making fans, there are also several possibilities for displaying them.
But let's start by understanding how a fan is used.
Let's start with the language of fans
Like the decorations on antique glass globes, the fan has its own language. For those who used it, it was possible to make oneself understood simply by manipulating it.
Used to cool down in hot weather, it allowed communication with suitors without chaperones understanding the meaning of the exchange.
Discover this peculiar language:
Placing one's hand on one's heart while holding one's fan open in front of oneself means - I LOVE YOU
Tapping with one's closed fan between the fingers of one's hand means - WE MUST INTERRUPT OUR CONVERSATION
Clutching one's closed fan in the left hand over one's heart means - ARE YOU FAITHFUL TO ME?
Constantly brushing one's mouth with one's closed fan means - MAY I SPEAK TO YOU PRIVATELY?
We discovered this language by visiting the Museum of Mother-of-Pearl and Tableware.
This museum, located in the former mother-of-pearl factory of Méru, explains in a very pedagogical and didactic way the different stages of mother-of-pearl extraction and its use throughout the centuries.

The fan is the art object par excellence. There are all styles and for all budgets.
This diagram clearly illustrates the different parts of the fan.

What stands out in this diagram is the complexity of all the elements that must be assembled to create a fan.
Our presentation work is not to damage any of these parts. The ultimate goal is to sublimate each of them.
The use of transparent plexiglas highlights the fan's components without making the overall presentation seem heavy. The stainless steel of the display also contributes to this aspect of lightness.

The advantage of the fan is that, apart from its varying size, its shape does not change. This is why it is easy for us to offer you an easy-to-use black painted steel display stand at an affordable price.
How do we proceed for the creation of a custom-made fan base?
We arrange a meeting at our workshop in the Paris Saint-Ouen flea market.
If possible, bring your fan with you.
Together, we decide on the desired opening amplitude of your fan. We also determine the height of the rod. Unlike the example below, you can consider a round base, for example. Finally, to complete a custom base according to the rules of the art, you must consider its "color" or patina. Indeed, here the base is black, but you can also imagine painting it white or considering a speckled effect patina, for example. The use of patinas gives depth to your objects.

But what exactly is basing? When we talk about a basing workshop, it means that we create a base for you so that your object can stand on its own. The advantage is that in the custom field, there is a base for each object.
As the examples below show, in the custom field, the possibilities are endless.
To learn more, you can refer to our blog post on the subject.
