Enhance your fans with our
displays
or custom-made bases

In this article, we are not telling you how to make a fan, but rather how to present it.
Because if there are several materials for making fans, there are also several possibilities for presenting it.
But let's start by understanding how to use a fan.

We begin with the language of fans

Like the decorations on antique glass globes, the fan has its own language. For the users of this object, it was possible to make themselves understood simply by handling it.
Used to get some fresh air in very hot weather, it allowed communication with suitors without the chaperones understanding the significance of the exchange.
Discover this very special language:
Placing your hand on your heart while holding your fan open in front of you means - I LOVE YOU
To strike with one's closed fan between the fingers of one's hand means - WE MUST INTERRUPT OUR CONVERSATION
Holding your fan firmly over your heart with your left hand means - ARE YOU FAITHFUL TO ME?
Constantly brushing her mouth with her closed fan means - CAN I SPEAK TO YOU FACE TO FACE?
We discovered this language when we visited the mother-of-pearl and tablet-making museum.
This museum, housed in the former mother-of-pearl factory in Méru, explains in a very educational and didactic way the different stages of mother-of-pearl extraction and its use over the centuries.

The fan is the ultimate art object. They come in all styles and for all budgets.
This diagram clearly illustrates the different parts of the fan.

What is striking in this diagram is the complexity of all the elements that must be assembled to create a fan.
Our presentation job is to avoid damaging any of these parts. The ultimate goal is to enhance each one.
The use of transparent plexiglass allows the fan to be highlighted without weighing it down. The stainless steel used in the display also contributes to this lightness.

The advantage of the fan is that, apart from its size, which varies, its shape remains the same. This is why it's easy for us to offer you a black-painted steel display stand that's easy to use and affordable.

How do we go about making a custom fan base?

We agree on a meeting together at our workshop at the Paris Saint-Ouen flea market.
If possible, bring your own fan.
Together we agree on the desired opening width for your fan. We also determine the height of the stem. Unlike the example below, you can consider a round base, for example. Finally, to finish a custom base according to the rules of the art, you must think about its "color" or patina. Indeed, here the base is black, but you can also imagine painting it white or consider a speckled effect patina, for example. The use of patinas gives relief to your objects.

But what exactly is a base? When we talk about a base workshop, we create a base for your object so it can stand on its own. The advantage is that in the custom field, there's one base for every object.
As the examples below show you, the possibilities in the field of custom-made products are endless.
