Custom mounting requests can be very surprising, and that's what makes our profession so charming. So, when a major architecture firm like Liaigre asks us to create custom mounts for their art objects, we don't hesitate for a minute. Over time, Liaigre has specialized in creating high-quality yacht interiors. For this project, we were asked to produce a very high-quality custom mount for a white turtle shell. It should be noted that we carry out this type of project in accordance with the law, upon presentation of a valid CITES document.

The demands of Liaigre's clients instinctively led us to propose a brass mount.
Indeed, brass is, in the hierarchy of custom mounts, the most prestigious. The malleability of brass offers infinite possibilities for creating original shapes, with curved base feet and a high-quality finish. For this extraordinary project, even the choice of patina was very bold.
The request was for a silver-colored chrome patina.

Before achieving this result, several design stages were necessary. Indeed, the support rod was curved for maximum aesthetic appeal, knowing that the object would be visible in profile in its final interior setting.

Meticulous mounting work in several stages.
As we have just mentioned, this custom mount is a multi-stage creation. Thus, in our workshops in Île de France, each piece had to be created separately, then assembled, ensuring that everything fit together perfectly. Each part of this custom mount is a technical feat in itself.
Indeed, each element had to be designed and shaped with the ultimate constraint that the object's stability be perfect, as this custom mount would be placed on a boat. This constraint forced us to put holes in all four corners of the base to add securing screws.
A total of four pieces were assembled like a puzzle.

A custom chrome patina.
The pieces that make up this custom mount were all created and shaped from brass. This natural material is slightly golden in color and tends to oxidize on contact with air, turning rather green.
Finding a suitable patina is therefore essential to stabilize the final color of the mount.
This patina can be a simple layer of varnish or, as in this case, a more sophisticated process requiring immersion baths in the material.
For the creation of this chrome finish, we called upon the company Renova Chrome, located in Saint-Ouen, very close to the Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen.
The advantage of working at the Puces de Saint-Ouen is, among other things, the proximity to a network of qualified craftspeople, such as painting restorers, for example.
Finding a suitable patina is therefore essential to stabilize the final color of the mount.
This patina can be a simple layer of varnish or, as in this case, a more sophisticated process requiring immersion baths in the material.

Each piece of the mount was polished before being covered with Chrome.
